A good friend of mine is participating in the Ride for Cancer this summer where she has to make a minimum pledge of $2,500 and ride 400k in one day. She is hosting a Charity Poker Tournament to help raise some of the funds and she lined up a few good local businesses to donate to the prize Pool. They have over 20 prizes and only 20 confirmed players for this. She's really hoping to get more people to play and asked me if I could help recruit some people who I can vouch for as "good people". If anyone is interested, I can PM the address (It's in Waterloo).

Food, drinks are catered and included (thanks to sponsors)

Details.

This Sun at 1pm-5, or 6pm

Sun March 18th 1PM start

$50 Buy-in (You will receive a tax receipt)

$1,625 in donated prize value so far... (and counting)

+$1,000 in cash prizes (estimated. Will know by Sun)

$2,500 in prize pool for a Charity Tournament of only 20 confirmed players so far.

Prize distribution will be `Wheel of Fortune`style prize selection to winners. IE: If winner get 40% of prize pool, He/She gets 1st pick and chooses say $900, worth of prizes/cash totaling $900 in value (Say $500 envelope of cash + 6 cases of beer and so on till they aquire $900 worth, then 2nd place chooses $400 worth, then 3rd and so on)

List of donated Prizes to date are....

1-Molson's (6 cases of beer)$200 (Also, the Molson rep offered to supply beer for the players througout the tourny)

2-Wilson and auto- 3 oil changes and a fuel injector service @ $200

3-Professional Teeth Whitening (by Bev) $200

4-Complete Car Detailing interior / exterior wash n wax $200

5-6-Dettmer Tire- 2 Michelin Smart jumper cable packages @ ($75 each) $150

7-Bladerunner property maintenance- spring aerate and fertilizer @ $120

8-Boston Pizza- $25 (x4 gift cards)$100

9-Kurtis jewelry- his and her wrist watches @ $100

10-RIM- 2 golf shirts, jacket and mug @ $100

11-Bella spa and tanning- 10 free tans @ $70

13- Massage therapy session(s) $65

14-Golfs Steakhouse- brunch for 2 @ $40

15-Daily Grill / 3 Bridges Gift cert $30

16-Bogarts hair- gift card $25

17-Sheridan nursery- gift card $25

I forget the others...

Prizes Totaling $1,625 (so far, only 20 players vying for them)

Possible in cash prizes (to be determined on Sun) $1000

Possibly more sponsors to firm up by the end of the week, such as Toronto Maple Leaf tickets- value to be determined

Grand Total $2,625 (and climbing)

Maestros Pizza, Tim Hortons, Molson(and possibly others by Sun) will be supplying Pizza, coffee, beer and snacks. (BYOB)

Approx 15 people playing this tourny have never played poker for money before and will be playing essentially to support
Bev and her Charity. It will be a relaxed friendly environment with many visual aids for hand rankings and chip color denomination ad so on. They might allow Rebuys for the 1st hour at 1/2 price (for the inexperienced/unlucky who end early and would like to keep playing) and at the end of the 1st hour they may also allow anyone to "Add-on" for 1/2 price too. I think that they will be doing a 50/50 Drawn for whoever gets the 1st 4 of a kind hand (or higher) and raffles, so bring a few extra bucks (just in case)

Anyways, let me know if any of you would be interested. With moneys raised for charity, a tax receipt, free food, drinks and beer and many prizes and cash to be won... Seems like a win/win situation!

Thanks guys!

Andre
